The sad part is if he actually used Evenews24 as an actual for-real news site instead of a propaganda ego-****, he probably would be in a position to be hugely popular.
Take a look at the massive battle in OP9Z yesterday - that's got all the stuff 0.0 stories are made of. 1000+ pilots per side, a crazy long epic slugfest that actually functioned (what a great ad for TiDi right there, that it even let the majority* of everyone involved have a chance to participate instead of crashing out and hoping the battle worked out). Crazy bombing runs, being able to get back in and keep fighting even if you lost a ship, all of that good stuff. Either way, a solid example of the kind of thing you just can't get in other games.
He doesn't write about that, though. Instead, you get LOL GOONIES LOST HOW CAN THEY KEEP LOSING THESE SHIPS** ps screw mittani. Don't get me wrong, for a one-sided dirt rag or a crappy blog, it's about par for the course, but for someone who even pretends to be news? What a missed opportunity. Imagine an alternate universe where he'd written about how nuts the battle was, how playable it was (from both sides, instead of just his allies). It's the type of story that could straight-up be used to sell the game, the type of thing CCP should be putting on their frontpage as an example of what you can do here (and can't do in other games). Imagine going into a CSM campaign with that on your back? He'd be a lock for a top 7 spot and probably even have a shot at chairman after that.
I guess anyone thinking of wasting a vote on someone like this should ask yourself: do you really want someone that short-sighted as one of the 7? Do you really think someone so childish that he'll burn opportunities like that just to "get back" at anyone will be able to sit with 6 other players who may not be on his side and work with them? There's a lot of candidates this time around, but he and Xenuria are the only two that would actively HURT the CSM if elected.
Really, if you just want giggles, there's far better joke candidates out there already. There's zero upside here, for anyone involved.
* I wasn't there so I can't personally attest to how well it performed, but the lack of complaints about being able to actually *do thangs* is a positive sign
** Please don't turn this into a who won/who lost that battle as it's immaterial to my point. Even trying to argue how you'd decide who won and who lost a battle like that could be a topic of discussion in and of itself, and it's worthless to have it here. |
